Municipalities will seek funding from the European Union for the protection of the cultural and historical heritage
The Association of Cities with Cultural and Historical Heritage will seek direct funding from the European Union for various projects, it became clear the last day when a meeting of the organization was held in the old capital. the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo, Daniel Panov, who is chairman of the association, announced that this way more opportunities for preservation of the cultural and historical heritage are created.
The municipalities can apply for projects of cultural monuments of national importance under the “Regions for Growth” Operational Program and the priority axis for tourism and attractions is to be opened. during the meeting the new changes in the laws on cultural heritage, spatial planning and tourism were discussed.
The Association of Bulgarian Cities with Cultural and Historical Heritage will extend its international contacts and cooperation with organizations with the same subject of activity. The 2015 report as well as the activity program for the current year were also adopted.
The Association was founded in 2013 at the initiative of Daniel Panov. in it are the municipalities Veliko Tarnovo, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Elena, Tryavna, Bansko, Silistra, Balchik, Nessebar and Dryanovo.
